StoreFlow and Payrexx: a Web-to-Print platform integrated with a typically Swiss online payment solution
Payrexx, a new online payment service for XMPie StoreFlow Web-to-Print
StoreFlow is the Web-to-Print and document submission platform developed by our supplier XMPie. It has been continuously evolving since its launch in 2008. Around the world, it supports hundreds of print shops and in-plant printing or reprographics departments within companies and organisations, enabling them to showcase their expertise online or on an intranet, capture orders, send jobs to production equipment, keep teams productive, produce relevant, high-quality communications and build customer loyalty. Their testimonials speak (in French) for themselves.
In B2B, once a shopping cart has been filled with products or services, pre-printed items or print-on-demand products, personalised products or submitted documents, users rarely pay out of their own pocket: orders are consolidated and then usually invoiced at the end of the month through the company’s or organisation’s management system.

However, in B2C—or in B2B within a franchise network, where each entity may be financially independent—users will need to pay out of their own pocket. To validate online payments, our supplier has developed two integrations that are included as standard when its platform is sold in Europe: PayPal and Worldline (other methods are available in the Americas and in Asia-Pacific). Users pay by bank card—or through their PayPal account—and the required checks are performed instantly by the payment provider: does the account have sufficient funds, has the card been stolen or reported lost, has it expired, and so on? The service provider’s bank account is then credited, minus a fixed fee or a fee proportional to the value of the shopping cart.
Payrexx: an intuitive payment system for Swiss users
Here in Europe, even though online payment did not appear 2,000 years ago, certain local particularities mean that overly generic, overly Anglo-Saxon—or overly French, in Worldline’s case 😉—solutions are not necessarily suited to local traditions and practices. Payrexx is a prime example: this typically Swiss platform is a major player in its home market, although it is also active elsewhere in Europe, including France, Germany and Italy. Opening the StoreFlow platform to Payrexx was therefore a challenge we decided to take on. And we succeeded, drawing on previous successful integrations in other markets, such as Izly and HelloAsso Checkout.

It can therefore be advantageous for Swiss print shops, or for in-plant reprographics departments within organisations that sell printed products to consumers, to offer their customers this payment option. This comes in addition to the inherent benefits of Web-to-Print: a multilingual user interface in French, German, Italian and perhaps even Romansh; 24/7 ordering; online proofing; promotion of the print room’s added value; order progress tracking; and more.
A simple, familiar purchasing journey
From a technical standpoint, the purchasing journey remains very simple and very much in keeping with standard e-commerce practices:
- once the shopping cart has been confirmed and any delivery address has been entered, consumers simply choose their preferred payment method from those offered by the print shop
Starting a Payrexx payment during a (French) Web-to-Print order
- Payrexx checks that the card is active and has sufficient funds—the Web-to-Print platform knows nothing about these details, as they are not relevant to it
Providing credit card details during a Payrexx payment on a (French) Web-to-Print order
- once the order has been placed, the consumer’s bank account is debited and the service provider’s account is credited
- the consumer receives visual confirmation in the Web-to-Print portal, together with a confirmation email, and can then track the processing of the order within the Web-to-Print platform
Confirmation of a Payrexx payment in a (French) XMPie StoreFlow Web-to-Print portal
- meanwhile, the print shop or reprographics department is notified of the new order and can process it according to its production schedule
